This guy just poped out of nowhere. I was mostly just playing with clay, trying to get rid of that brawn. No matter how much of it I use it just doesn't depreciate lol.
Overall he's cute, but I might do more painted detailing on him.
Things are quite hectic here as usual. We've been hunting for a home quite hevily and finally, hopefully found one.
*crosses fingers*
In the mean time. I've been trying to get refocused for Seadogs in July. To do that I've been making another series of dragons. Little pirate dragons.

Hello Everyone! I'm so sorry I've been absent for so long. I hope you weren't waiting too long. There are tons of great bloggers for crafts out there.
However, today I'm doing a post on making molds. There are many different ways to do this, but I'm doing silicone ones.

A quick search on youtube will bring up many more. It's fine to use one you're more comfortable with.
My ingredients/tools are:
Dap silicone100% silicone. It has to be 100% or things go wrong
Corn starch and a binder
oil. veggie oil is suggested, but i used penut oil. seemed to work the same
a tub to mix them in
and a mixing implement.
Things to make molds of
some sort of coloring agent if you don't want them to be white.
Now then. first a formost wear GLOVES! This crap is sticky. I probably did this round wrong, severly wrong. I also got the wrong color of silicone.
If you look closely my molds are cracking. I don't know where it went wrong but the drying process went really fast. That's not good when you wanna make a lot of molds.
Overall this is going to be a few parts post. At least untill I get this right. Not everything works out the first or even second time.
So keep an eye out as i try again.

Sorry dear readers. It's been a rough start to the new year. My husband began a new job, a bunch of bills pilled up and have been taking their toll. The house is up for sale. I've been working small events that haven't brought in much. And the big event I was lookign forward to exploded. All of this didn't add u pto the doctor visit.
Yes, I went to a doctor.
The world blew up from there.
You see I haven't been to a medical facility in years. However my husband decided it was high time to do something cuz I was and am having a hard time focusing, had massive head aches, and terrible moodswings. And I"m not pregnant!
Thus something was off. I've always known something was off, but never worried about it. Long story short manic depressive with high spurts of manic.
Steps are taken.
In the mean time I said there would be horns.
Doing these is very very simple. It's just a lot of twisting and playing around. It's a great beginner craft for clay.
I'm really sorry for the lack of updates. It's just been really hectic again. I did two events back to back over the last two weeks. And it's been hard getting back on track. I'll hopefully have at least a small one this friday. Untill then have a dragon playing with their older sibling!
This last bit of the month was hectic. I went to Tortuga, a local pirate fest, as a merchant. It was a lot of fun, but also a lot of work and sadly I have anyother event coming up as well. Pacwar is this weekend and these events cut into my blog time. I'm hoping to be able to post something before I go but I'm not sure I'll be able too.
SO I make dice bracelets a lot. Unfortunately this isn't going to be a how to. I'm gearing up for Seadogs in Lebanon Oregon this weekend and don't have time to make a post. Sorry.

I apologize for being gone so long. A whole month more or less. You see, my plan when I started this was to do at least one post a week. I do still intend to meet that goal by the end of the year and to keep posting as much as possible but May was one hell of a roller coaster ride for me; physically, mentally, and emotionally.
In truth it began with a lot of Joy. I got married to a very wonderful man. I'll be calling him Squishy from now on. (Someday I"ll explain that pet name.) May 3rd was a lot of fun. That was what all that wedding crafting was for too. I had a lot of wonderful helpers and it was the most stress free I'd been in a long while.
After that my husband and I spent a week in Hawaii; a very generous gift from his grandmother. It was a blast. I might post some pics on here later. It was the first time I'd been in a plane, the first time out of the states, and the first time in a long time my allergies weren't going nuts. I loved every minute of it.
Then we came home and did a quick trip to Dystopia Rising. It was all going great with only a few minor bumps until all that good energy dropped away and I sprain my ankle just before the weekend started. I spent the whole weekend limping around and generally being miserable. I ended up begging my friends and staff to let us going home early. The reason for this oddity is that D.R. has a few rules. Two being that you must serve a shift as the bad guys and you must help with camp clean up. I was dead by the end of the weekend. Thankfully the staff was amazingly considerate and let us go. But the month wasn't done being unkind to me.
I got home and a few days later got a call that my grandfather had fallen, was in the ER, but was fine except for some pain in his hip. Literally the day after he left the hospital he feel into a sleep and passed away. This hit me really hard. I spent most of the day crying, but it's what comes after that so hard. I won't go into those details. I'm just giving you the reasons why such a young blog has stopped all of a sudden. I will post. I will keep this going. I just can't do it right now and for that I'm sorry.
You still get the hanging dragon that never was though. Apparently theres a type of clay that just doesn't liek to bake right.
I dabble in a lot of various crafts. You'll see a lot of different things from me over time on here. It all depends on my moods, my interests, what's needed from me, what's wanted, who's asking for something, etc.
At this moment I've had a request for mini dragons out of clay. Now if you do any sort of searching on etsy, deviant art, or any crafting site, various types of dragon statues will show up.

In my attempt to have fun and learn to make a few of these for friends I may have...gone a bit over board! :)
Since I linked the tutorial above this will be less of a tutorial in it self and more of a I just had fun post. When I make these I generally work on the heads first. In this round I figured out different styles of eyes. While i was using dots before, here I used slits.
After the eyes I work on the horn designs. There are so many different ways to do these it's really up to your imagination. Dragons and Beasties linked above has tons of different ways she does horns, but I don't recomment copying styles. Lookign to learn is good but coming up with your own horns and spots can be fun too.
After heads were done with horns and eyes the heads got put on the bodyies. Then I began exploring different styles of designs on the bodies.
This one got little purple stripes and the bottom one got black stripes.
In this pic I show these little guys after firing. It doesn't change much in looks, but they are fairly solid now. I put them in at 275 degrees for about 30 minutes.
This last pick is after they've been glazed and I let them sit overnight to dry. I think I might need to reglaze them or something. I'm not very sure one coat is enough? maybe it is.
Overall, there's many different styles that can be done and this is really easy, with a little patience, to build.
